Expat Guide Philippines ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website at expatguidephilippines.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our Site, how we use it, and your choices regarding your data.
By using our Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Information We Collect
Analytics Data
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand page visits, referral sources, browser and device details, approximate location and use of our tools. GA4 uses cookies and identifiers to distinguish visitors and sessions and produce usage reports. Planner events record actions such as onboarding completion, sections opened, exports and partner clicks. We do not include your notes, budget amounts, arrival dates, or account identifier in these events.
Interactive Tools
Our calculators and comparison tools process planning inputs in your browser. Selected cities or other shareable settings may appear in the page URL. The free move planner saves guest progress in this browser. Clearing browser data can remove that copy. If you choose to sign in, your move details, task progress, notes, budget, apartment records, belongings, trial stays, school and healthcare preparation notes, arrival contacts, readiness checks and personal dates are saved to your account using Convex so they can be used across devices. Clerk handles sign-in and account information such as your email address and chosen social sign-in.
Calendar and Offline Copies
Calendar downloads contain your planner dates and their associated details. You choose whether to import them and which calendar to use. Your calendar provider handles any notifications. Calendar and offline card downloads are copies you control; changes to your plan do not automatically update or delete those copies.
Newsletter Signup
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address. Your email is used solely to send you updates about new guides, cost of living changes, and visa policy updates. We use Resend to manage subscriptions and send those emails. We also store your email address and welcome-email delivery status in Convex so we can retry failed delivery and process unsubscribe requests. Our AI newsletter editor receives public website content, not subscriber addresses or private move plans. Creating a planner account does not subscribe you to the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
Cookieless planner analytics
We use PostHog in cookieless mode to measure onboarding steps, planner actions, cloud-save outcomes, exports and partner-card views and clicks. Events may include the section, action category, guest or signed-in status, and browser and device type. We do not send your account ID, email, plan ID, notes, amounts, dates, contacts or other plan contents. Screen recording, automatic interaction capture and location enrichment are disabled. Page URLs and referrers are removed from event data.
PostHog does not store an analytics identifier in cookies or browser storage. Its servers process connection information, including IP address, browser user agent and this site's hostname, to generate a daily identifier; the IP address and raw user agent are stripped before event transformations. We do not use this to recognize you across days or devices.
Analytics runs without a consent prompt. You can turn it off below, and we honor previous opt-outs. We store only your analytics preference, not an analytics identifier. Turning it off stops new events but does not remove events already received. This setting does not change the Google Analytics setup described above. See PostHog privacy information.
Planner usage analytics: on. This preference applies to this browser and does not affect saving your plan or Google Analytics.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Expat Guide Philippines does not collect any of the following:
- Payment card or bank account credentials through the free planner
- Precise device location
- Passport scans, medical files or other document uploads

Google processes analytics information from our Site. See How Google uses information from sites that use its services for details.
Hosting
Our Site is hosted on Vercel. When you visit the Site, Vercel's servers may log standard request information (IP address, browser type, pages visited) as part of normal web hosting operations. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for details.
Planner accounts and recommendations
Clerk provides account authentication and Convex stores signed-in planning data. Their services receive the information needed to provide these functions. See Clerk privacy information and Convex privacy information.
Saved planning content remains available until you clear the plan or delete the account. Export a copy before deleting. Minimal deletion records may remain to prevent an older session from restoring deleted content; providers also maintain operational records under their own retention practices. Unsaved changes in a signed-in tab can be lost if you close it before syncing.
Affiliate links open third-party sites. We may receive attribution information about qualifying purchases, and those providers may use their own cookies and tracking. Your private checklist notes and amounts are not attached to our partner links. Read how recommendations work.
Cookies
Clerk uses authentication cookies to maintain signed-in sessions. Guest plans use local browser storage. Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, including _ga and _ga_<container-id>, to distinguish visitors and maintain session information. External partner sites may use their own attribution cookies. You can manage cookies and local storage through your browser settings; doing so may sign you out or remove a guest plan.
Your Rights
You can manage your information in the following ways:
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email
- Request deletion of your email address by contacting us
- Access the data we hold about you by contacting us
In the planner, use Export my plan to download your planning content, clear the saved plan to start again, or Delete account to remove the sign-in account and its saved plan. Guest plans can be removed by clearing the planner or this website’s browser storage. Contact us if you need help accessing or deleting information. The analytics and hosting information described above may be collected whether or not you subscribe to our newsletter.
Children's Privacy
Our Site is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
